Waarom P.O.S. er niet was en waarom Midget dat niet zomaar pikt...

13 October 2009, by Midget Ferrara

Dear P.O.S., I’m writing you this letter to determine if I’m anything like you, pissed off that is.   Saturday the tenth of october I went to Amsterdam with three of my friends, to visit your show at the Melkweg/Sugar Factory. We drove for three hours because the road was closed. Three hours might mean less to you then it it is to us, our country is smaller, so we’re not used to traveling long distances. We were probably the first people to buy tickets for your show and we were really looking forward to it. The whole way we played Audition and Never Better on the carstereo.   My friends wouldn’t have gone by themselves if you were playing, but I forced them to appreciate your music and instigated this trip was The Trip. I was confident about your delibery, because I saw your last show in Amsterdam, earlier this year. I told them time and time again that they would throw away all cd’s of other rapartists in their collection and also all the memories they had of other rapshows they visited. Yes, I was being cocky, but as I told you, I saw your last show…   During this last show you told us, the audience,  that you’re were coming back to Amsterdam before the end of this year. Because there were so few people, you didn’t need a microphone to be heard inbetween songs. That’s probably the reason why I could adress you to confirm the fact that you were returning to Holland pretty soon. You promised me, I asked you if it was a promise and you said: “Yes, it’s a promise.” I don’t know why I asked, I don’t suppose it was my intuition, they say intuition doesn’t count if you’re drunk, but the fact is that I’m the guy you promised to turn back.   When we arrived at our Amsterdamfriend’s house, were we would sleep that night, an old lady was waiting in the hallway. It was a demented lady who wanted me to break open her mailbox because she had lost the key. I didn’t do that, I knew there was something wrong with her, I smelled old piss on her and thought she might be mistaking about which mailbox was hers. As you might know, there’s a lot of crime in Amsterdam, and this lady had her frontdoor open and was talking to strangers, so I made sure she returned to her apartment.   I’m telling you this, because it’s important for me how I treat people. I like your music because I’m under the impression that it carries out the same message of honesty and sociality. I wrote you this letter because I want to determine if I like you as a person as well as your music. The way I see hiphop those have to combine; good music and good people, that’s keeping it real to me. I usually think you’re a good person because of your lyrics, but now I’m in doubt.   The reason for this doubt is that the bouncer of the place told us you weren’t playing last saturdaynight because you missed your flight from England. He also told us that you had left your equipment at an English friend’s house and couldn’t reach him when you had to leave for the airport. I want to ask you a few questions about this situation. First: is it true, is this the reason why we sat at the Leidseplein at nine o’clock with five friends who normally talk a lot to eachother, all quiet?

I don’t get it. Like I told you outside after your last concert here, I’m a rapper myself. I never missed a liveshow, never came late. It’s difficult for me to imagine what equipment you needed. I can go to a concert with just a cd with beats. What was so crucial at your friends house that you had to remain in England to wait for it? We could have arranged a pair of Technics turntables for your dj in half an hour. If you didn’t bring your beats, which I always carry on me to be sure, you could have contacted someone to send them by internet, couldn’t you? If not, why not rap over instrumentals, don’t you think that would have been fun for a change? I hope you don’t think I’m cross, could you answer these questions so I can determine if I still like you? I’m this critical because I always played when somebody asked me or when there were only five people in the audience. I’m asking because I adjusted my whole weekend to this night, I went to bed early Friday, didn’t drink Thursday and skipped my girlfriends’birthdayparty. I’m asking because we only get twothirds of our ticketmoney back and no transportationcosts. I’m asking because I wrote a report about your last show in which I told the people that you cleaned up yourself when your show was done, to prove what a great guy you are. I’m asking because I write one piece a week for our website and this weeks’piece was supposed to go about the greatest night of 2009.

Hey. I am deeply sorry I missed the show in amsterdam.
It was to be the last, and best show of my 15 day europe tour. The only headliner show as well.
The reason we couldn't make the show is because
The night before in london, after the tour with the king blues had ended, we left our merch and computers and backpacks with our friend scott. The drummer from the opening band on the tour. We left it with him because it saved us 95 pounds in cab fare and we told him that we had an early flight to get to the show in amsterdam the next day. We gave him our numbers and asked him to text us his so we could all meet up and we could get our stuff later on. He didn't text, and we spent the rest of the night trying to find him so we could leave. The next morning I called my agent and told him the problem. We found him, but by then we had already missed our first flight. We booked another fight, took a car to scotts to get our merch and sat in a 100 pound cab ride in traffic, only to watch our second missed flight take off. The cabby refused to drive faster than 45 on the freeway. We called the promoter and he told us he could move the show back to about 12. So we booked another flight. Took another very expensive cab ride to a different airport. Got the fight, took a cab from the amsterdam airport with all of our merch and things. Arrived at the melkweg at 1030 only to find out then that the promoter called it off.
I spent around 1300 us bucks trying to make that show happen. Roughly every dollar I made on the whole europe tour to try to make that show. I wanted badly to play it. I don't make a habbit of missing shows and I really didn't want to miss one in amsterdam. Last time was so fun, I was expecting the same from this one.
I wish I could send this email to everyone who was dissapointed by me. I really am sorry. I won't miss another one. The reason why we couldn't just go without out stuff is because our last flight home was from amsterdam and all of our things where stuck in london. That would've meant, not having our computers or clothes or any of the money we had made on the whole tour. It also would've meant that someone else would be responsible for the work side of my tour. Meaning, someone else, I don't know who, whould have to go through my bag, find our money, count it and settle the tour without me there to check or double check. We are not rich. We are broke, this is not a chance I could take. Again. I'm so sorry I screwed you and your friends over. It won't happen again, and I WILL be back. Stef

Goed werk mannen! »
